CLASSICAL ARTISTS AND DIGITAL ARTISTS

In an analysis of the longstanding perceived value and prominence of Visual Artists as Painters (classical and classically trained fine artists) and Photographers, the perception and value attributed to different types of artists, can be influenced by several factors. It's important to note that these factors may vary among individuals and art communities, and there are exceptions to any generalizations. Here are some common-sense reasons that contribute to the differences in perceived esteem:

  1. Historical Context: Classical painting and traditional photography have a long-established history and are deeply rooted in artistic traditions and movements that have shaped the art world. The mastery of traditional techniques and the association with renowned artists of the past often contribute to their perceived value.

  2. Skill and Craftsmanship: Classical painters and photographers often require years of training and practice to develop their skills and techniques. The mastery of traditional mediums, such as oil painting or film photography, is often seen as a mark of expertise and dedication. The perception of skill and craftsmanship can influence the perceived value of the artwork.

  3. Cultural Significance: Classical paintings and traditional photography have played significant roles in cultural and art history. They have been displayed in prestigious galleries and museums, studied in art education, and have been associated with intellectual and cultural movements. This historical and cultural significance can contribute to their elevated status.

  4. Market Dynamics: The art market, influenced by collectors, galleries, and institutions, can play a role in perpetuating the perception of value. Traditional mediums like paintings and photography often have an established market with collectors and galleries that specialize in these art forms. The demand and market dynamics can influence the perceived value and esteem associated with these mediums.

  5. Changing Perceptions: As technology advances, digital art has gained recognition and acceptance in recent years. While there may have been initial skepticism or resistance towards digital art, its growing presence in galleries, museums, and online platforms is gradually reshaping perceptions. As more artists explore digital mediums and push boundaries, the perceived value and esteem associated with digital art are evolving.

It's important to recognize that artistic value is subjective, and there is no absolute hierarchy of artistic mediums or forms. The appreciation of art should extend beyond the medium itself and encompass creativity, innovation, conceptual depth, and the artist's ability to evoke emotions and provoke thought. As the art world continues to evolve, so too will the perceptions and value attributed to different forms of artistic expression.

Digital artists have a range of opportunities within the art industry that can help elevate their work and contribute to the overall value and meaning of the industry. Here are a few avenues they can explore:

  1. Online Platforms and Marketplaces: Digital artists can showcase and sell their work on various online platforms and marketplaces dedicated to digital art. These platforms provide exposure to a global audience and allow artists to connect with potential buyers and collectors.

  2. Collaborations and Commissions: Digital artists can collaborate with other artists, designers, or brands to create unique and engaging projects. Collaborations can lead to increased visibility, new creative perspectives, and opportunities for cross-promotion. Additionally, accepting commissions allows artists to create custom pieces for clients, expanding their portfolio and generating income.

  3. NFTs and Blockchain Technology: The rise of Non-Fungible Tokens (NFTs) has opened up new possibilities for digital artists. NFTs allow artists to tokenize and sell their digital artwork on blockchain platforms, providing proof of ownership and authenticity. This can create new revenue streams and enable artists to directly engage with collectors and art enthusiasts in the digital realm.

  4. Social Media and Online Presence: Building a strong online presence through social media platforms can significantly benefit digital artists. By sharing their work regularly, engaging with the audience, and participating in relevant art communities, artists can attract followers, gain recognition, and potentially attract clients and opportunities.

  5. Virtual Reality (VR) and Augmented Reality (AR): Digital artists can explore the intersection of art and technology by creating immersive experiences in virtual and augmented reality. This allows artists to push the boundaries of traditional art mediums and engage audiences in innovative and interactive ways.

  6. Education and Workshops: Sharing knowledge and expertise can be a rewarding path for digital artists. They can offer online tutorials, workshops, or courses to teach others their techniques and skills. This not only helps aspiring artists but also establishes the artist as an authority figure in their field.

By actively exploring these opportunities and leveraging their digital skills, digital artists can contribute to the evolving landscape of the art industry, create meaningful connections, and find success in their artistic endeavors.

CLASSICAL ARTISTS AND DIGITAL ARTISTS - THE FEED - LIAM IAN

"THE CREATION OF GOD'S SON"

As an artist deeply rooted in spirituality and passionate about fashion design, I find myself drawn to the iconic masterpiece of "The Creation of Adam" by Michelangelo. This timeless artwork, with its profound symbolism and divine narrative, serves as the perfect canvas for me to express my own artistic vision and cultural identity.

With every part of the process in developing this image thru every digital brushstroke, I embark on a journey of reimagining this masterpiece through the lens of my African heritage and contemporary fashion aesthetics. I believe in the power of art to transcend boundaries and tell stories that resonate with the soul. Through my rendition of "The Creation of Adam," I seek to capture the essence of African spirituality and celebrate the fusion of tradition and modernity.

“The Creation of Adam” - Michelangelo

In my interpretation, I weave Afrocentric motifs, symbols, and patterns into the composition, breathing new life and meaning into the age-old tale of creation. I take pride in infusing elements of African spirituality into the artwork, forging a deeper connection between the divine and humanity. It is my way of honoring the rich cultural heritage that has shaped me and acknowledging the spiritual journey we all embark upon.

But my rendition goes beyond personal expression. It is a statement of representation and inclusivity within the art world. By reclaiming this classical masterpiece and infusing it with my African American perspective, I challenge the Eurocentric narratives that have dominated art history for centuries. I aim to create a space where diverse voices are heard and celebrated.

Ultimately, my rendition of "The Creation of Adam" is a visual testament to the enduring power of spirituality, cultural pride, and artistic innovation. I hope it inspires others, particularly within the African American community, to embrace their own heritage, celebrate their unique journeys, and find solace in the transformative power of art.

Through this creative endeavor, I invite viewers to join me on a spiritual and sartorial exploration, where the realms of divinity and fashion intersect. It is my humble contribution to the world of art, a small brushstroke that seeks to create ripples of connection, understanding, and self-discovery.

ART: DIGITIZED PHOTOS

As we move forward within Design and Photography, with an eventual focus on Videography, we still must give some attention to Art. Yes, ART!

Kendra Alexys for Kendra’s Play Space!

As an essential part of who we are—who is LIAM IAN—Art stands at the forefront of everything else because this is where it all began.

Art goes beyond just pencil or pen or paint, Art is the perspective of the creator and the viewer. It is the impact attempted and implied and the impression made and received. Digital Art—and digitized photography—used as art is…Art.
