"BLAST OFF!"
The mood to create is always there. Upon sitting down to listen to the Bruno Mars and Anderson.Paak collaboration, “SILK SONIC”, I happened upon the song “Blast Off”…and must say that it truly was…inspiring.
The concept came straight from what I was envisioning in the moments of each lyric. The song is positive and energetic and uplifting and seemingly subtly grand. That was more than enough to envision…something commercially aesthetically appealing.
The song mentally and emotionally took me back to the days of hanging with friends to drink and just listen to music. A song that could be in the forefront of one’s mind and conversation or in the background of a room full of good and great people.
Design Elements: Procreate app / Over (Go Daddy Studio) app
While the image incorporates shapes and colors reminiscent of African (or African American) themes, the overall focal points had to be the human female silhouette and the extending colors emanating seeming from within her. They symbolize her different energies with a constant intermingling of sound (as if incense burning) with her hands high as if to receive it all relaxed, ready and free. The underlying blues produced in Procreate symbolize the dream-like state while thinking of outer space. Finally, the entering light from the upper left corner with the light cone implying a distant yet still bright source symbolizing the good nature of it all.
Enjoy!
*The album SILK SONIC is a welcome addition to the resumes of Anderson.Paak and Bruno Mars…however, this song went straight to my personal playlist. It truly was a delight to run across and create to the discovery. It is truly a delight to keep this one on “replay” when I need to sit back and let the mind go.
