THE CREATIVITY OF LIFE.

PROJECTS - SOMETHING LIKE…

Inspired by New York City based Celebrity Photographer Mark Mann. Continually impressed by how Mark Mann captures the most interesting positive expressions of his subjects, it’s easy to tell that it all goes beyond just taking the picture—it’s an experience. Beyond the technicalities of lighting and positions and compositional language, you can see that he has a relationship with those he shoots…even if it only started in that moment. Love it! My goal is capture the same.

This was a blast to have shot such a beautifully character-rich young lady! Harcelia of @hwplifestyle.

Dad and Daughter, Fonati and Fonita are a family pair that you could only see in novels and stories. There’s a lot of love here and that joy is immensely felt when you’re in their presence.

An outdoor shoot, this little lady has more than enjoy to make anyone smile! Reinforced by the love she has for her mom. Kendra Alexys is a true treasure.

Shooting in the natural light, this beautiful and magnificent woman was such an energetic delight. So upscale and cosmopolitan, she was the refinement of a superb model.

Young and energetic, this young lady was the shining star of a summer Saturday. Smart, ambitious and focused—she surely made the day worthwhile.

Inspired by Street Photographer Alan Schaller—cofounder of StreetPhotographyInternational.com—this project set displays the journey into Street Photography. Impacted by the editing and composition styles, my effort is to capture the surrounding world without the use of a cellphone…but to truly go back to a day where the camera was as much of the focus as the scene being captured.

Inspired in my youth and ongoing into my everyday life, Gordon Parks. Gordon Parks—renown for being one of the first Black and African American Photographers—(born Gordon Roger Alexander Buchanan Parks [November 30, 1912 – March 7, 2006]) was an American photographer, composer, author, poet, and film director, who became prominent in U.S. documentary photojournalism in the 1940s through 1970s—particularly in issues of civil rights, poverty and African Americans—and in glamour photography. He is best remembered for his iconic photos of poor Americans during the 1940s (taken for a federal government project), for his photographic essays for Life magazine, and as the director of the films Shaft, Shaft's Big Score and the semiautobiographical The Learning Tree.

Parks was one of the first black American filmmakers to direct films within the Hollywood system, developing films relating the experience of slaves and struggling black Americans, and helping create the "blaxploitation" genre. The National Film Registry citation mentions it as "the first feature film by a black director to be financed by a major Hollywood studio."

The purpose of “Something Like” is to further increase and enhance the professional photographic prowess of Photographer, Liam Ian Black anding to the Professional Portfolio of LIAM IAN LLC as a brand. All images will also contribute to the development of the LIAM IAN SIGNATURE Look Book. The truest intention is growth beyond the typical and ordinary to create a varied and diverse portfolio displaying a capacity and range. Each image and photography project was taken, edited then selected with vision and care. Whether in business or artistry, we endeavor to grow in our experiences marking those milestones with tangible memories that captured the feelings within the moment.
